2 Dead, 4 Injured in Washington Shooting

Two young people are dead, and several others were injured after a house party in Pierce County, Washington, erupted into gun violence early Friday morning.

Pierce County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a chaotic scene south of Tacoma just after midnight, where dozens of young people were seen running and screaming through a suburban neighborhood. The altercation reportedly began inside the home before spilling into the streets, where multiple callers reported a fight breaking out.

As deputies arrived on the scene, gunshots rang out, with people and cars fleeing the area. “Vehicles were getting stuck in the neighborhood while chaos embodied the entire street,” the sheriff’s department said in a statement.

Deputies tended to the injured on the front lawn and in the road as the situation unfolded. The area is located just east of Joint Base Lewis-McChord. The identities of the victims have not yet been released, and authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
